Dear Parents

One of the good things about CIS (who are visiting us again next week) is their little obsession with Global Citizenship. They insist that schools really embrace both the idea and the practice.

At Wellington College Bangkok, Global Citizenship involves LEARNING, and DOING GOOD.

We LEARN about people and places around the world and how their ways of thinking and living may be different to ours.

Understanding what we can, from first-hand experience and reliable evidence, we TAKE ACTION for the benefit of all people, societies and environments, not just our own.

The thrilling thing for me is the action: we are doing things which directly, and immediately, help people. Last week’s Global Citizenship week in Senior; the Welly Walk; the Giving Tree project; we have many, many, many examples.

If you are involved with that CIS visit next week: thank you very much. I hope you enjoy talking to the visitors – I am quite sure they will enjoy talking to you 😊

 Have an excellent weekend

Last Friday, 4 of our Year 6 students spent the day at Shrewsbury Riverside School, taking part in a fun, collaborative science day with students from other Bangkok international schools. JJ, Karissa, Doln and Alice made lots of new friends and loved taking part in some amazing experiments in the Senior School laboratories.

Our Wellington Warrior Run was such a brilliant community event on Sunday. Parents, staff and students of all ages got together to compete in this very tricky and exhilarating obstacle course around our beautiful grounds. There was an amazing sense of camaraderie as everyone strode out in their special T-shirts in search of the gleaming Finishers medals.

Last Friday, our Senior School students took part in a hugely valuable Global Citizenship Day. Here at Wellington College Bangkok, we see Global citizenship as learning and doing good. We learn about people and places around the world and how their ways of thinking and living may be different to ours. We take action for the benefit of all people, societies and environments.

We very much enjoyed the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Ceremony held in our theatre yesterday evening. Parents, students and staff came together to celebrate the success of our first Bronze cohort. We loved the videos, the pictures, the stories and the memories! There was much laughter and a sense of a wonderful achievement.
