Dear Parents

As predicted – but even better than imagined – the FoW Christmas Fayre was an enormous success, and a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. My heartfelt thanks to the organising committee, who did a really exceptional job. The sense of community, and enjoyment, was completely amazing!

With one more week till the break, there is still so much happening in school. Snapshots for me from this week have included the cricket finals on Front Field, the excellent Bee Musical production in the theatre, the Sixth Form Launch in the Skylight Atrium. But each day there have been more and more examples of why this is such a great place to work – and why I am so grateful to have the chance to do so.

They say ‘the grass is greener on the other side of the fence’ – but what that saying actually means is that the grass is not greener over there! The ‘grass is greener syndrome’ is a psychological error. Plus – our grass is the best in Bangkok!! Have a great weekend – and please note that Monday is NOT a school holiday: we will be here as normal!

Dear Parents,

What a Christmas Fayre we had last Saturday !! I believe we all got back home after the event with a big smile and good memories to cherish.

The FoW Committee organized this signature event with the main purpose of creating a warm, cosy, and friendly community. And in doing so we also gave a happy experience to our children, the experience of growing up in a good environment, the experience of being a part of the big event, and certainly the experience of great partying !!

Without a doubt, the FoW Committee couldn’t accomplish all these alone. Along the way we got good support and collaboration from various parts of our community. On behalf of the Committee, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you in supporting this event in one way or another. A million thanks to volunteering parents and volunteering staff for working tirelessly to make this event a reality. But most importantly, my gratitude and appreciation to all of you that joined the event. Undoubtedly it was good participation that made the event an enjoyable and most successful one and therefore I salute you all.

I would also like to thank all our sponsors for supporting us and help building this groundbreaking event. And with that I would like to thank our sponsorship team namely Mr. Hengpanich Perakijrungreung, Mrs. Pachirapaz Yuvasakunkrai, Ms. Nantinee Leerungruang, Ms.Pittinun Pittayavivit for not only finding good sponsors but also for making sure all the sponsors are well taken care of.

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed our Christmas Fayre and will have tons of good stories and memories from the event. And as much as we are very proud of our achievement, we are also open to comments so if you have any please feel free to let us know and together we can make next year’s Fayre an even better one!

So, a huge thank you again from the bottom of my heart for helping create this happiness together.  See you all at the Christmas Fayre!

Congratulations to all our Year 1 and 2 students for their amazing performance in the Bee Musical this morning. Our theatre was packed with entranced parents watching their children singing, dancing and acting their hearts out as they told the story of the bees and their value. "Why do we work, it's such a puzzle" asked one, "To bee or not to bee" pondered another.

It’s been a very exciting Basketball season for all of our teams. Our Under 15 Girls have been exceptional, winning every game and their final challenge was to overcome in the talented Amnuay Silpa who have shown great form themselves this season.

Scholars of Sustenance Food Collection

You will have received an email from Mrs McCraw (JS) and Ms Mo (SS) last week regarding food collection for Scholars of Sustenance. We are very excited to be able to support Scholars of Sustenance this December. They are running a food collection for the needy in Bangkok. SOS has been working with many international schools under the School Food Drive Programme. This programme is where students and staff in the school donate non-perishable food to improve the food insecurity of vulnerable groups of people.

On Monday 11 December and Tuesday 12 December please bring donations to the Junior School Lobby at the beginning of the day. Years 6-11 can leave donations in the Senior School lobby at the designated table. They will be collected at midday on the Tuesday so please do not bring any after this time.

  • Food must be before expiration date

  • Food must NOT be opened

  • No rusty cans

Spaces in Perspective – FOBISIA Year 5-11 Art Challenge

Congratulations to our students who participated in the recent FOBISIA Art Challenge – Spaces in Perspective. Students in Years 5-11 from 31 Member Schools participated and they developed and used three-dimensional drawing and shading techniques to ‘capture’ an indoor or outdoor space of their choice. They selected an interesting viewpoint and created their artwork from direct observation or from personal photographs. All art medias were welcome, including digital art.

This very popular competition was therefore open to some extremely talented junior artists across Asia and we are thrilled to announce success for several of our students.

  • Ai – First Place, Year 7

  • Ocean - Merit, Year 7

  • Aiden – Second Place, Year 6

The judges also awarded an additional 14 Certificates of Participation to our students. We thank everyone for their enthusiastic participation. FOBISIA, COBIS and other international competitions are a wonderful experience for children of all ages and we encourage you all to participate in everything coming up this year.
