Dear Parents
This week has been quite busy – not just for me, I think. Here are some of my good snapshots.
Working with Mr David Wilson, a Chemistry teacher from Wellington UK, who has been here since Monday. We have a very good relationship with our mother school, as you know, and David, who also oversees the international programmes from the UK, has been hugely useful for our teachers, and some of the students. He’s been doing some guest teaching in the Senior School – and he even got a sudden (and loud) round of applause at the end of one lesson! Nice work :)
Also over in the Skylight Building, we have a couple of really nice exhibitions in the Atruim right now. The Art department have put out our students’ extraordinary socially-conscious ‘global citizenship’ work on slum housing across the world, and Design Technology have displayed a small fraction of the production work that has gone on this year – some excellently designed and constructed Bluetooth speakers, along with a range of other very well-made items. Do I detect a little competitive rivalry between two brilliant departments? Excellent!
And over in Junior School, the Front Field hosted some most dynamic displays of achievement from the PE curriculum in our sports day events. It was all-action, and very well organized by the PE department. It’s really good to see our students developing their all-round physical abilities and potential so strongly. And a fine contrast to the beginnings of our school, back in 2018, when I did wonder whether we would ever be able to get our students really active. We have!
Also: Please note that we have a ‘privileged Medical Services’ agreement with Samitivej Srinakarin and Sukhumvit, which gives Wellington parents, students and staff 10% off OP medicine, lab work and x-rays (some restrictions apply), and 10% off inpatient room charges, medicine and lab work (some restrictions apply. Just present your school ID to the hospital. If you would like more details, please let us know.
This weekend sees our Open Morning for prospective families on Saturday, at the same time as competitive football, basketball and robotics off-campus and all our usual onsite weekend activities. This is the rhythm of a good school: everything just keeps on happening!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend
With best wishes
Chris
