Dear Parents

Welcome back, to the final term of the school year!

Our Year 11 students, right now, are going through what should be the most stressful few weeks of their young lives so far, as they sit their IGCSE exams.

Each student is taking between 12 and 20 separate papers, under very strict international examination regulations.  Their answers get securely couriered back to the UK at the end of every day, and marked professionally by trained independent professionals.  The process is so rigorous that the final marks are not released until the middle of August.

These exams – of course – require silence in the building.  Please support our brave Year 11 students as follows:
  • this term from next Monday, the Skylight Building is closed to children younger than Year 6 after they finish school.
  • If you usually wait in the Skylight Building with your child until 15.45, please use a different area of the campus.
  • Year 6 dismissal will also only happen at the Theatre Plaza – parents must not wait at the Café 1815 and take their children on the way out, because it is too noisy.
It's been a little warm recently – I hope you have a nice cool weekend!

With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school !!!! Hope everyone had a great holiday and a fresh start for the Summer Term.

Our school continues to grow rapidly and impressively. I would like to ask all parents to join me in extending a warm welcome to all the new families joining WCIB this term. Our community has become diverse with members from many nationalities yet we are very inclusive, everyone, old and new, is an important part of our community. We are indeed a community with international spirits which is certainly a good example for our kids who will grow up to be a global citizens.

Next week our Year 11 students will start the IGCSE exams, the very first time for our school to take part in it. We wish them best of luck and looking forward to see the success story in their IGCSE results.

A Summer Formal has been planned for Year 9 - Year 11 students at the end of this term. Inaugurated last year by FoW, now it is becoming an important school tradition. This year FoW, school, and most importantly students join hands in organizing this event and in the future it will be an event led by students and supported by school. It is amazing to see our students get dressed up and properly behave in a traditional British school social functions. They will set a good example for younger students who look up to them and looking forward with excitement to the day they join the event. This project is a good example of three-way collaboration; students, school, and parents.

This being mentioned, even though we are now in the transitional period of FoW Committee, we are still collecting views and ideas on future activities. So if you have any views please feel free to let us know. Your views will be heard and taken into account.

Once again a warm welcome back and looking forward for another fantastic term.

Global Citizenship Week

This has been an exceptional week and we are so impressed with the variety of events across School. From Pre-Nursery visits from parents discussing their careers (and a special appearance from Mr Nicholls explaining the role of the Master) to a Trash Lucky recycling workshop today – the events have been meaningful, interesting and loads of fun! Year 4 have particularly loved their trips to a community farm – meeting the animals and seeing all manner of flora and fauna.

We thank Ms Tanisha McCraw, Ms Kesta McLeish and the team for all their work making this special!

A Special Junior School Assembly

As part of Global Citizenship Week, it was a pleasure and a privilege for our Junior School students to hear from an esteemed visitor, Dr Cleopandh. She talked about the Chiyapruk Foundation, based in Nakorn Nayok, which helps abandoned and abused children. They provide a permanent home with physical, pastoral and moral care to some of the neediest members of society.  It was humbling to hear about the work done by the Doctor and her team. If you’d like to hear more then please watch the video HERE which our children were shown in assembly. Read more about the work and how you can help HERE and HERE

Thailand Ladies Basketball Team

Basketball is achieving new heights this term here at Wellington. Our exceptional facilities have attracted national attention, no less! The Ladies Thai National Basketball Team have begun training here at Wellington for the summer term, as they prepare for upcoming three on three tournaments in Europe and America this summer with Coach David.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to host an international Basketball team and a great opportunity for our students to see these athletes at work. We will be scheduling various enrichment sessions throughout the term, where the students will get the opportunity to work with the players and a potential exhibition game to see them in action.

Thank you to our fantastic PE department – especially Mr Samuel De Prisco – for the hard work making this happen! We can’t wait to see these sportswomen on the court.
