Dear Parents
Some parents have asked about the flooding in the north of Thailand. We are not collecting donations ourselves, but do recommend the Thai Red Cross, which has a flood victims donation option. Do be aware of scam ads and always go direct to the real website!
Wellington Football is receiving a strong boost this year. Our School teams are now training all year round, and we have employed coaches who also work for the excellent Bangkok Galaxy organisation. This is significant upgrade for us, and will certainly make Wellington College a stronger and stronger force in the Bangkok international schools sports leagues.
Galaxy also now run their own academy here on Sundays, and in the late 17.00-18.30 slot some weekdays. A few parents have asked about the procedures in place for these sessions, which include students from Wellington – of course – but also from other nearby schools. Thank you for asking – it has helped us clarify and tighten up the way everything operates.
- Security: all visiting parents must register at the gate and receive lanyards, which they must wear (as our own parents must!)
- Restricted access: Galaxy families and players will only have access to the toilets in the Junior School lobby, and will not be released into the campus until training begins, always under direct supervision of Galaxy staff. Outside players arriving early will be supervised in the Lobby. No access to the Junior School Dining Hall or any other areas of the campus. Sufficient drinking water will be provided at the training location.
Some have also noted that there is no 16.00 WEx football this term for those not in teams. This will be offered from next term, for students who would prefer not to wait till the later Galaxy slot.
It’s the weekend again; I hope you have a peaceful and enjoyable family time.
With best wishes
Chris

If your child has a sibling who would like to join Wellington in Pre-Nursery in August 2025 then please let us know in Admissions as soon as possible. We are now full in all Early Years classes and we want to prioritise our own families. We can add you to the top of the Waiting List and you will get the first available places. Please come and see Jane in Admissions. |

Military Reserve Training
We are very proud of our fine young men in Years 11 and 12 who are taking part in Thailand’s Military Reserve Training. Supported by the school, they are participating in three years of training across Years 11-13. Our Year 12 boys know the drill now (literally) and are in their second year. Our Year 11 boys went off for registration and initial information this week. We are extremely grateful to K Kratai, our School Registrar and K Duck for organization, administration and supervision. Please contact K Kratai if you’d like to know anything at all about our programmes.

Welly Walk
What an amazing day we had on Wednesday for our second annual Welly Walk. An enormous thank you to each and every member of our community. There were so many ways to contribute to these very worthy causes – walk, run, support, sponsor, donate, celebrate – and you took part in all. The event was organised by Ms Tanisha McCraw who tells us that we already have 300,000 THB raised with lots more to come! We are very hopeful of making over 500,000 THB for our four charities
- Giving Tree
- Second Chance Bangkok
- Chaiyapruk Foundation
- Save Elephant Foundation
We are very excited to share our video and some great pics of the day. We’ll keep you updated!

Second Chance Wellyphants
We have some lovely new Wellyphants here in School and we are proud to have created them in partnership with Second Chance Bangkok, one of our chosen charities this academic year. Second Chance is a social enterprise creating Second Chances for the people of Klong Toey community - Bangkok's largest slum. In all that they do, they strive to Re(up)cycle, Reuse and Renew. Our very generous parents have donated old school uniform to create these souvenirs. We will be using our Wellyphants as gifts and keepsakes - but today they took a little walk around campus! Stop by Marketing or Admissions if you'd like to find out more!

Junior School Green Team
A big welcome to our newly appointed Junior School Green Team! These enthusiastic students cannot wait to get started on some of our aims for this year, such as reducing food waste and plastic usage within our school. We are continuing to work towards our WWF Eco Award, and we are excited to work with our Senior School Eco-Committee to do so. Parents – please do let Ms Beth Upton or Mr Joel Holliday know if you would like to be involved in anything ‘Eco’ – we would love to include as many members of our school community as possible. We’ll be sharing a pic of our Senior Green Team very soon!

Reading in Junior School
We LOVE reading here at Wellington and we want every single member of the community to love it too.
Ms Gill Elrick, Deputy Head of our Junior School has created a handy guide to helping your child to read more and to read more fluently. We want them to explore

What could be more lovely to end the week, than to see our Nursery and Reception children settling in so happily. We are truly blessed to have these learning spaces and inspirational teachers for our youngest Wellingtonians.

What does it mean to belong to a House? This was the question posed in Junior School assembly this week. Our four Houses - Benson, Stanley, Apsley and Wellesley are very important to daily life and to the annual events calendar.
