Dear Parents
We’re already at the end of Week 6 of the school year. Don’t forget that the Half Term holiday runs from 14-18 October (only two weeks away!).
Those of you who drive to school will have noticed the excellent policeman assisting traffic flow in the mornings; I’m very grateful to him for his hard and professional work – I think we can all see the very positive results!
As the school grows, and our oldest students get older, new issues come to the fore. We have noticed some people arriving to school on bike taxis, on their own motorbikes and even on motorised scooters. Please remember that wearing a helmet is the law in Thailand – but also that helmets really do save lives. The human head did not evolve to be road-proof!
Life just gets busier and (which is great!); I hope you manage to get some quiet time this weekend.
Quiet and dry.
With best wishes
Chris

Good afternoon everyone
Another reminder that our Early Years enrolment processes for August 2025 are well under way. With the School’s growing popularity, our high number of current applications mean that our places are full in Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception.
Lists do move so if you have friends who would like to discuss an Early Years place then please put them in touch with the Admissions team.
For those of you with applications for siblings in August 2025 - our Stay and Play sessions start next week. For Pre-Nursery, we have notified all parents of children with Dates of Birth between September 2022 – December 2022 to come in for a lovely play session with Head of Early Years, Ms Charlotte Baxendale Head of Pre-Nursery, Ms Chantelle Matthews and the team. These sessions will take place on 3 October.
Children with later Dates of Birth will do their Stay and Plays early in 2025 (Term 2). If you have any questions at all about this then please contact us in Admissions. We are very happy to explain our processes to everyone who has any questions at all.
Have a great weekend!

Junior School Parent Workshop – Online Safety
Thank you very much to our School Counsellor, Roland Madrigal who this week presented to parents about the very important topic of online safety. Roland talked about what we as parents can do to protect our children in all aspects of their online lives - whatever their age. He shared some very valuable global resources to help and support our parents and children. A highlight was the sharing of personal strategies already employed by our parents.
Roland has over a decade of experience working in adolescent mental health and has worked with more than 30 schools, universities, companies, and organizations in promoting mental health awareness. He gained clinical experience in mental health treatment and addiction treatment in one of Thailand's biggest hospital networks. He is very knowledgeable about unhealthy use of the Internet, social media, and online games.
We are so lucky to have Roland on our team. Do get in touch with him if you’d like to know more. And if you missed the presentation then you can find details in the message that goes out to all via School Post email to all JS parents from Mr Madrigal |

Service Initiatives
We are pleased to let you know that the money raised from last year's Welly Walk was used to successfully complete many projects at Banpubon School, including building a new library, refurbishing the roof of the main school, providing new resources and repainting some classrooms.
There was some money left, so we have decided to donate the remaining funds of 174,000 THB to the Thai Red Cross to help the victims of flooding in the northern provinces. All thanks to our hardworking Service Lead, Ms Tanisha McCraw and our amazing families who always give so generously.

Basketball
It’s been another very busy week for our young Basketballers! In four matches against the Thai Sikh School our Under 15 and Under 13 teams looked on great form!
Under 15 Girls
On Wednesday our Under 15 Girls continued their winning ways with a home victory against Thai Sikh. Our defending GBAC Champions who returned four starters and a plethora of top reserves have picked up right where they left off last season. This continues to be one of our most improved teams and these girls exemplify great sportsmanship. All 13 players saw action and made contributions to the winning effort. Well done girls!
Under 13 Girls
On Thursday our Under 13 girls also scored a win over Thai Sikh. Despite injuries it was one of the best performances to date for this great team. Each player had significant playing time and nearly every player on the team got on the scoreboard with all 11 girls making their mark on the match.
Under 15 Boys
The U15 Boys picked up their first victory of the young season with a home win against Thai Sikh. It was a fast paced match in which both teams displayed some solid offense. The boys played well collectively and were able to generate some high quality shots by ball movement and unselfish play. One could certainly see great improvement from the boys from the first game!
Under 13 Boys
After a tight loss in game one, the Under 13 Boys bounced back with a win at Thai Sikh today. The boys relied heavily on a strong half court defense and a quick offensive transition to secure their first victory of the young season. This game saw all the boys see action and produce on both ends of the floor. It was clear that the boys were highly motivated throughout! |
