Dear Parents
Three very contrasting items of note this week (amongst many, many). Yesterday, I was delighted to be in the audience for our Year 2 Pirate Show. What a spectacular joy! Songs, sketches, jokes old and new – and every child up on the stage having an excellent time. Of course, every part of my job is great, but these moments are really special :)
And the Skylight Building has been quieter than usual, with Senior students away on their residential trips. I often wish we could do these trips more often: the importance of being somewhere else, of being away from the routine of family and lessons, is huge. As Frank Herbert says in his novel Dune: ‘without change, something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken.’
Plus, as you see below, I was very pleased to attend the press conference for the announcement of Year 12 Unna’s signing for West Ham women’s Under 18 team. Unna is one of our original Year 6 students from 2018-19, and was part of the girls’ football team that won won the GBAC trophy that year. I love it when a plan comes together!
Very busy weekend here, with the Festival of Education. See you on Monday!
With best wishes
Chris

Hello everyone
We are extremely busy here in Admissions as we start to welcome families on their journey to becoming part of the Wellington community in August 2025. Our Early Years seats are all now allocated for 2025-26 with Waiting Lists in all three year groups. We always want to prioritise ourcurrent families so do contact us as soon as possible if you have a child who you would like to enrol. Waiting Lists can and do move – so please come and talk to us and we will go through the process.
Please encourage your family and friends to join us at our Open Morning on Saturday 25 January. We have one big event each year and there is always a great atmosphere. We offer private tours and meetings to all new families all year round – so at Open Morning we try and offer something different.
Visitors will hear from the Master, Head of Junior School and Head of Senior School along with some of our students who will explain exactly what makes Wellington so special! There are tours led by students, musical performances, open classrooms with teachers and specialists on hand to answer every question. We will also have an Admissions Clinic in English, Thai and Chinese.
Our very successful Sixth Form Awards programme continues for August 2025 entry. We have a very lively and ambitious Sixth Form and as they move into the first Year 13, we will enrol new Year 12 students to join them on the Fifth Floor! All new applicants and existing students are eligible to receive 1,000,000 THB applied against their Tuition Fees across five terms of Year 12 and 13.
Please drop by and see us – we love to see all our parents!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Jane

This Wellington Girl Can!
We are so proud of Year 12 student, Unna, who has just signed for West Ham Ladies Under 18 Football Club. The announcement has been a big hit in and around Thailand and Unna is set for great things ahead. On Thurs 7 Nov, a press conference was held to announce this news – attended by the Head Coach of Thai Womens national team (on behalf of the President of the Football Association of Thailand who met Unna the day previously). There were also many members of the media along with representatives of the British Chamber of Commerce and more interested parties. Our Master, Chris Nicholls was proud to represent the school and celebrate Unna’s achievements with the wider world!
Congratulations, Unna. We are so proud to have you inspiring our teams throughout the school. Wellington is very happy to be at the forefront of promoting Football for girls – and Thailand/UK sports relationships!

Senior School Art
Head of Senior School Art, Ms Duna Carbonell has shared details of a wonderful modular bamboo workshop for our Sixth Form students.

Bamboom by Klynton. A modular bamboo design workshop.
This week, the Art department had the privilege of hosting Klynton Lawrence from Bamboom, who delivered an inspiring workshop to our Year 12 students on creative uses of bamboo.
During the session, students were introduced to the beauty and versatility of bamboo in architecture, drawing inspiration from iconic examples like the Green School in Bali, known for its eco-friendly approach to building. Klynton demonstrated how bamboo can be shaped into intricate geometric forms, encouraging students to think creatively while exploring the technical aspects of structure and design.
In addition to the hands-on building activities, the workshop sparked important discussions around sustainability, the future of construction, and how materials like bamboo can play a key role in addressing global environmental challenges.
Thank you to Klynton for sharing his passion and expertise, and to all the students who participated in this exciting and educational experience!

Senior School Residentials
This week the Senior School has felt rather empty with the majority of our Year 7-11 students away on their Residential trips. We’ve shared a few stories on social media this week and have a selection of pictures here with more to come. Activities have included water sports of all varieties, hiking, exploring, crafts and lots of campsite bonding.
We cannot thank our teachers and trip leaders enough. Without them, our children would not have the opportunity of such valuable outdoor learning opportunities.
Thank you to Trip Leaders – Tom Lemon (7), Nathalie Findlay (8), Daniel Bell (9), Sally Nunes (DofE Bronze, 10), Claire Bope (DofE Silver, 11).

Counselling Corner
It’s said that “Time flies when you’re having fun!”
Since the school year began, we’ve been busy meeting one on one, welcoming visiting Universities to our lovely Sixth Form and inching forward to finding the best fit for our budding Sixth Formers!
I’ve met with each one of our students, formally and informally. As a collective, they’ve shown interest in pursuing their tertiary education in over 13 countries! We’ve welcomed 11 different university admissions representatives from the UK, US, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Thailand and Singapore, with more planned throughout the remainder of the year. And as a Year group we went to RIS to a college fair that featured over 220 colleges and universities. As their Counsellor, I’ve also attended a large Conference, and the OCSC Fair (340 universities).
Just last Friday we welcomed Imperial College London to speak to our students! Wellington College Bangkok is certainly on the map of the top universities around the globe!
At the end of this month (Nov 27), we’ll have a University Information Evening for Year 12 parents, to help them understand the timelines and nuances of the process of their son/daughter’s unique decisions that lie ahead. Then we’ll begin meeting with the students AND their parents, so the team is clear about what lies ahead! This time next year, our first cohort will be finishing up their applications to university and preparing for their exciting next chapter!
Looking ahead, there will be another recruitment cycle beginning in the new year. We are expecting many more university admissions officers to visit. Stay tuned, we’ll have more information for you next term!
Bevin Clark
University Guidance Counsellor
