Dear Parents
Last weekend we hosted a very successful and enjoyable Festival of Education. This weekend, Bangkok is again the centre of the region’s educational thinking, with the FOBISIA conference being held in town. These events mean lots of visitors for us! Groups and individuals from around Thailand, as well as China, Malaysia, Brunei and of course the UK have been popping in to see us all week.
It’s always a pleasure to spend time with first-timers to our campus. They are always most impressed by the way our students and staff interact – the respectful, calm, mature and open character of Bangkok Wellingtonians. We’re so used to it, that we can sometimes forget how important school culture is. It’s good to have it recognised by others :)
One big disappointment for me this week, though, has been the need to spend Friday at FOBISIA meetings in the city. That means – for the first time – I have missed the Loy Krathong celebrations. It’s one of my favourite parts of the year; I hope everyone had a great time today!
With best wishes
Chris

On Monday, Mr Stewart Findlay, Mr Kevin Phekenan and our eight Senior School House Captains visited Chung Kai and Don Rak Cemeteries in Kanchanaburi. They laid wreaths, gave readings and documented the experience. Thank you Mickey, Mark, Rada, Isis, Lydia, Luka, Suri and Chevan. Mr Findlay was honoured to play the bagpipes, traditional to his home country of Scotland.

Senior School Service
We held a very moving service in the Senior School at 11.00 on Monday 11 November. Led by the Head of Senior School, Ms Jane Sharp, the service was attended by all students, our Chair of Governors, Dr Darika Lapathitat, visitor Sir Anthony Seldon and the Master, Chris Nicholls.
Thank you to Ella M and Miki (Year 10) who gave moving readings and to Mr Rayad Denyer Green who played the Last Post on his trumpet. The Two Minutes Silence was a chance for us all to contemplate the sacrifices made for us.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Loy Krathong Celebrations
Today we celebrated Loy Krathong here at Wellington. This beautiful festival uses the floating Krathong to thank the Goddess of Water and River.
Loy Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar and here at Wellington we held our ceremonies – dressing up and floating our krathongs – today, Friday 15 November.
Please take a look at a small selection of our photographs below.

Odd Socks Day
Here at Wellington, we are proud to take a stand against bullying. Odd Socks Day on Tuesday 12 November is celebrated the world over—giving adults the chance to demonstrate their individuality and celebrate our differences by wearing different socks! We absolutely love all the creativity shown by children and parents. The campus was ablaze with colour reinforcing the message that we will not tolerate bullying. We are all unique and we are proud of that!

Festival of Education
We were proud to host the second Thailand Festival of Education here at Wellington on Saturday 9 November. It made tremendous use of our wonderful facilities as the Theatre saw the keynote speeches by Sir Anthony Seldon and Professor Vichai Ariyanuntaka. The delegates then moved into our beautiful Skylight Building where sessions were held in the classrooms with relaxation in the Atrium, Verandah and out on the fields.
