Dear Parents
Now that weβre back in AQI season (until the beginning of March, probably), I can update you on our AQI monitoring system. We have upgraded our hardware, which is connected to the international IQAir website and AirVisual app. Our two stations are called [Wellington College] Junior School Entrance and [Wellington College] Senior School Entrance. You can see rolling hourly data there. In school, we use more detailed minute-by-minute data, and update staff throughout the day on current conditions. You can see our current Air Quality Policy here.
Nice to have a brief moment of calm yesterday. I spent it doing Zoom interviews of candidates for new teaching positions to begin in August 2025. We remain very lucky here in Thailand: most of the worldβs international schools are suffering a grave teacher shortage β but not here. Many, many people want to come and live in Bangkok!
Of course, that notwithstanding, the teacher shortage will soon be fixed across the globe by thoughtful use of AI to reduce some of the need. Thatβs an exciting prospect: only the most capable people, doing the best work, supported by a new type of knowledge/understanding/skill matrix.
And, as we keep pointing out (Sir Anthony Seldon was saying the same thing when he was here a few weeks ago): itβs the human parts of the teacherβs job that will remain most important. Understanding of others. Being actively kind. Willingness to listen and cooperate. Smiling. And the wisdom to use, collate, question and properly comprehend the amazing amounts of knowledge now available to us.
And⦠Christmas Fayre here we come!
With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents
We are delighted to announce our next Academic Scholarship Day will take place on Saturday 1 February 2025. We are searching for the most exceptionally able academic students in Bangkok β whether they are already at Wellington or currently studying elsewhere.
We have two eligible age groups β
Year 11 for Year 12 (Born 1 Sept 2008 β 31 August 2009)
Year 8 for Year 9 (Born 1 Sept 2011 β 31 August 2012)
There will be qualifying criteria for entry β this will consist of current performance levels for Wellington students and entry tests for external applicants. More details will be provided to all applicants as we get closer to the day.
Please follow the instructions on the poster below and provide your letter of application to Admissions as soon as you are ready. Current Wellington students must send a letter and any other achievements that they would like to submit. You do not have to provide school reports or marks from internal assessments.

There is so much going on around school right now as we race towards the end of term! Our Year 2 children enjoyed a terrific Slumber Party this week as we dimmed the lights, took out our torches and read together. It was amazing to celebrate the excitement of books together...and also a lot of fun roaming round school in pyjamas all day! Thank you to the Year 2 teachers - Ms Kesta McLeish, Ms Charlotte Hetherington, Ms Poppy Green and Ms Jess Hunt - and to all the assistants who helped facilitate!

Student performances were -
Β· Year 7 β Harry Potter and the Philosopherβs Stone
Β· Year 8 β The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Β· Year 9 β A Christmas Carol
Drama teacher, Mr Ashley Edwards expressed his pride in each and every student. βThe event was a huge success. It was the first ever Drama Showcase for the school, so students did immensely well. I am the proudest Drama Teacher EVER! β
In just 3 hours the entire Key Stage 3 performed 3 different shows to over 300 audience β no mean feat at all. The Black Box was bursting at the seams, it was so popular! We are very proud of the whole community for helping manage the success of the show β performers, directors, set and tech support β and audience!
