Dear Parents
Last Saturday’s Christmas Fayre, Carnival Edition, was a magnificent triumph, thanks to a team including Khun Ik, Khun Amm, Khun Queen, Khun Amorn, Khun Ki, Khun Joyce, Khun Oh, Khun Bua, Khun Pom, Khun Namfon, Khun Michael, Khun Flora, Khun Tum, Khun Pam, Khun August, Khun Ying, Khun Anish, Khun Love, Khun Oui, Khun Flash, Khun Woody, Khun Nes, Khun Toey, Khun Jao, Khun Toffy, Khun Wim, Khun Goy, Khun Gift, Khun Boy, Khun Farung and Khun Ked working alongside our school teams led by Khun Ning and Khun Joy. Our FoW is amazing, and always has been. I remember our first Fayre, in 2019, when there was no Lagoon, no Theatre or anything beyond a big green fence that ran past the bottom bend of the running track. Even then, I wondered, astonished, how such a small, new school could create such a grandly enjoyable and sophisticated community event. It has grown greater and more wonderful every year since!
The new FoW Committee has a lot of exciting plans for the coming year – of course including the next Fayre – and I see the numbers are looking healthy, too, with 1.02 million moved into the new account, to support future events.
We are currently engaged in detailed review of our systems and procedures, following Monday’s incident. This is always the correct response; if you have any constructive feedback, please do let me know – I will add it into the process. After the holiday, I will update everyone on what is new.
Christmas: for me, not a religious thing at all, but an opportunity to put aside our differences and disagreements, and smile and laugh together. We give gifts to celebrate and enjoy the closeness of family and friendships. And, come to think of it, that’s something we could do more of throughout the year!
I hope you enjoy the well-earned break. See you next year, on Tuesday (not Monday!) 7 January.
With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents,
The Christmas holiday is upon us, and it is remarkable to review how much our students have been involved with over the past eight weeks! There are some tired students and teachers around Wellington College, but this is a fantastic sign that everyone has been giving their maximum effort. And as we know, maximum effort leads to maximum success across all areas.
This term, we introduced our new reporting and grading system. The updated documents are clear and easy to follow, offering a comprehensive summary of student performance at a glance. Students have also been encouraged to reflect on their progress and identify their next steps, setting themselves up to achieve even greater heights in the Lent term.
Our university guidance program has well and truly got underway, with our university counsellor, Mr. Bevin Clark, guiding students through bespoke pathways to top universities worldwide. Each student’s journey is unique, reflecting their individual aspirations and dreams for the future. With his extensive experience, Mr. Clark, in collaboration with our Head of Sixth Form, Mr. Scott Colton, and our teaching staff, offers tailored advice to help students navigate these crucial decisions.
Student leadership is thriving at Wellington with various roles such as the Eco Committee, Student Communication Team, Years 7-11 House Captains, and our first Sixth Form Prefects and Heads of College. These positions allow students to develop leadership skills, contribute to school life, and make a positive impact on our community. Well done to the students who have shown courage and responsibility and have been able to step into these roles this year.

Year 11 students are already beginning to focus on their subject choices for A-levels in Year 12. This week’s Options Fair, led by Mrs. Claire Bope, will help facilitate this important transition from IGCSE to A-level study, with decisions to be finalized by the end of January. Similarly, Year 9 students will select their three optional IGCSE subjects during this period.
It has been wonderful to see our Year 7 students adapting so well to Senior School life. They have managed the transition to more structured prep work and rigorous content with great success, supported in part by their Year 8 peers, who recently made the same journey. The entire school community has worked hard and produced some outstanding academic achievements this term. We are proud of them all.
This term, we welcomed four students from Wellington College, England, for a two-week exchange at Wellington Bangkok. They participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, enjoyed a weekend in HuaHin, and explored Bangkok's culture as well as attending lessons and joining fixtures. Additionally, we launched the fourth year of our Peer Mentoring Programme, pairing each of our Year 9 students with a mentor from Wellington College from November to February. We also offer exciting opportunities for our Year 8 and Year 12 students to attend the Summer School at Wellington College in England. This programme includes a variety of subjects taught by Wellington College's own teachers, cultural excursions, and leadership activities. It's a fantastic way for students to experience life in the UK and make global connections.

In the House Championship, the competition is incredibly close, with less than 20 points separating 1st and 8th place. Lynedoch emerged victorious in both Chess and Battle of the Bands, while Picton won the Basketball competition. Hopetoun triumphed in the Tug of War, and Anglesey won the Michaelmas 1 Half Term Value Shout Out. We still have the Christmas Showdown and the Michaelmas 2 Half Term Value Shout Out totals to be added, which will determine the final standings. |
|
|
Finally, I wanted to share some impressive sports participation statistics with you. Over the last term, our Senior School students have participated in 97 fixtures, with 127 students participating in football, 102 in basketball, and a further 96 across swimming, golf, athletics, and netball. Several students have represented the school in more than one sport, and we are incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas holiday, and we look forward to welcoming the students back on Tues 7 January for another action-packed and rewarding term.
With best wishes,
Jane Sharp

Dear Parents and Children,
As we approach the end of another exciting term, let’s take a moment to reflect on the many wonderful opportunities and achievements that have made this half term so special. From sports to heartwarming performances, House events to festive celebrations, it’s been a busy and joyful few months in the Junior School.
Dress up has been a great feature, with a range of outfits worn for Halloween across the school – thankfully none of these being too scary! Then Odd Socks in place on this special day – helping our students reflect on and celebrate the importance of what makes each of us unique.
|
|
|
Loy Krathong gave us yet another opportunity to dress up - with performances and music to enhance the beauty of the day. Students and teachers looked absolutely stunning in their traditional Thai outfits and loved floating their Krathong in the lagoon throughout the morning. |
|
|
Our House events have continued to be great fun, and undertaken a number of different forms. Our House Reading has encouraged students to develop their love of books whilst also developing House spirit. It was wonderful to see so many children engaging with new stories during these special assemblies, sharing and discussing their favourite characters and plots with friends and teachers. Another fun event was our House Christmas Sing-Off - what a close competition it was, with Benson gaining the winning title as a result of the extra bonus points awarded because of great teacher participation!
Performances have been a real highlight of this term – it was wonderful to see our Year 2 students showing their talents in this year’s Year 2 Pirate Production. With pirate hats, treasure maps, and lots of stinky socks (!), the children took us on a journey across the high seas. They learned lines, sang pirate-themed songs, and delivered their performance with amazing enthusiasm and creativity. The show was a huge success with both parents and students, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work!
|
|
|
Following on from this, we then had a wonderful series of Christmas Concerts, which truly brought the holiday spirit to life. Our students showcased their incredible talents in performances including singing and instrumental music. Thank you to our Music team for all your hard work towards these events.
Also in celebration of Christmas, it was great fun seeing our Pre-Nursery and Nursery classes getting active as they undertook a range of exciting Christmas themed games in the sports hall. Thank goodness they were able to help Santa with all his important jobs!
In the true spirit of Christmas, our school has been involved in continued service initiatives this term, one of these being the Giving Tree. How amazing that 350 Wellington families filled a bag to support a child in need at Christmas. We are incredibly thankful to our community for your generosity and kindness - how heartwarming to see so many people wanting to make such a positive difference for those less fortunate.
|
|
|
This term has also been full of exciting sports events, with our students showcasing their physical skills and sportsmanship, as well as unrelenting motivation to succeed. Highlights to mention are the U11 boys’ football (coming first in the Siam League Final) as well as the fantastic successes in the recent GBAC athletics (with second place for our U9 and third place for U11). This is not to forget, of course, the successes of our gymnasts, golfers, swimmers, tennis players and basketballers ..! |
|
|
And of course, to wrap up the term, we all thoroughly enjoyed this year’s magnificent Christmas Carnival – an evening packed with holiday-themed games, music, food and activities. What a wonderful way for everyone to come together, to celebrate the end of term and enjoy some light-hearted fun before the Christmas break. A huge thank you to our incredible Friends of Wellington for organising such a successful event.
We now look forward to an even more exciting and enriching Lent Term in 2025, with more new opportunities for learning, growth, and fun.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with peace, joy, and happiness.
Kindest regards.
Hannah

Arts News
We are very proud of Year 12 student, Shawn who has been shining a light for our Arts community here at Wellington. Recently two of Shawn’s works of art were chosen for display at the Digital Arts and Design International Conference and Exhibition co hosted by Silpakorn University and Birmingham City University. The works are entitled “Inside the Artist’s Mind” and “Light of Thailand”. Shawn is further honoured by the fact that he is the only school age artist to be chosen.
Shawn has always promoted and supported the creative arts here at Wellington and we are so happy to see him being recognized outside our community.
Shawn worked under the expert guidance of Ms Duna Carbonell and Mr Simon Hamilton
