Dear Parents

Welcome to Wellington 2025!  I hope you had a restful/exciting break. We are already 45% of the way through the school year. My calendar is brimming with upcoming events, many of which are mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter, so I shan’t repeat. I’m also, once again, in the middle of staff recruitment for 2025-6.

Typically, we get 50-100 applications for each teaching post we advertise, which is very healthy indeed.  But it does take time!! Shortlisted candidates are interviewed two or three times (usually online these days), and I have been developing our new values-based assessment, which allows me a deep dive into the character and attitudes of a potential Wellington teacher. Multiple references from previous workplaces are examined in detail, and we call every referee personally to confirm all details. We also ensure we have police checks and further safeguarding reviews in place for all successful candidates. That’s my weekends taken care of for a while!

Saturday is Children’s Day, wan dek haeng chat in Thailand. It’s fascinating and really impressive to me to see how childhood, and the role that children have in society, is understood and celebrated in Thailand. When I lived in Japan, we celebrated kodomo no hi on 5 May – that’s the one with the big koi flags fluttering in the spring breeze. Quite a different type of festival, but also giving due respect to the young. We don’t have one in the UK – but I think we should!

I see the UK has been having some chilly weather recently. How wonderful to be in Thailand!

With best wishes

Chris

Dear Parents

Welcome back to Term 2! This is a very busy time for our Admissions department and we want to keep you aware of everything!

Our annual Open Morning takes place on Saturday 25 January. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to visit our school. Please tell your friends and family and let them know that we would love to welcome them and show them why Wellington is the best! They can register at the link below or send an email to me or the Admissions team and we will add them.

We are currently processing all our Early Years applications for August 2025. If you have been sent an offer for a place, we ask you to return the form to us as soon as possible so we can secure your place. There are Waiting Lists for all year groups (Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception). If you have any questions at all, please call me or drop by at your convenience. If we have invited your child for a Stay and Play then please accept your chosen time as soon as possible, as without a Stay and Play we cannot offer a place. Thank you so much for your help – we have a very popular Early Years offering here at Wellington and we don’t want to disappoint any of you.

Several families have contacted me already about siblings joining in other year groups. If you have a child studying elsewhere who you would like to move to Wellington, please get in touch as soon as possible as some year groups are almost full next year.

Have a fabulous few months!

Jane
