Dear Parents
Next Wednesday and Thursday, Senior School performers will take the stage for two nights of the biggest show of the year, The Addams Family. You may not remember the original Addams Family comic strip, which debuted in 1938 in the New Yorker magazine. Neither do I. But I did watch the 1960s TV series, and the first movie in 1991, which featured the smash hit single ‘Addams Groove’ by MC Hammer (off his album ‘Too Legit to Quit’). Which is pretty catchy, and may now be stuck in my head for the weekend.
If you haven’t got your tickets yet, hurry. I can’t wait!
The air quality this week has been a little better than predictions, but still we have been cautious. This season does not last long, but it’s worth taking care.
Don’t forget that the week 24-28 February is our Half Term holiday. These days, of course, in a busy school, we don’t all stop for the holidays, though. I’ll be visiting the Beaumont Ruam Pattana School in Chaiyaphum for some of the time, working with them to develop plans for Wellington community involvement. There are also FOBISIA swimming and tennis tournaments, and the school Ski Trip to Japan.
All that’s in the future. We only live in the present moment. I hope you have a relaxing family weekend and look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday. Yo! Yo!
With best wishes
Chris

We are very happy to share a message from our amazing University Guidance Counsellor – Mr Bevin Clark.
Greetings from the Fifth floor of the Skylight Building!
The whirlwind close of Term One, was highlighted by our Elite Student Athletes enjoying a rare online chat with an All-American scholar athlete, Roxanne Yu, telling of her journey and the personal discovery of her “Why!” It was an incredible perspective shared with our aspiring student athletes. And of course, we can’t forget the very well attended University Information Wine and Cheese for parents of our Year 12 students!
Students: Now that our Year 12 students have finished their Mock exams, they are now better able to develop their LONG lists of prospective colleges and universities! Current aspirations have our soon-to-be graduates researching tertiary education opportunities in 11 countries! However, our students are mainly focusing on applying to universities in the UK, US, Australia, Thailand, Canada, and Ireland. If your journey has been down any university paths in these countries, contact Bevin and we’ll arrange an opportunity to share your experiences with our cohort!
University Visits
Our MEDS Soc is ready to kick off during Enrichment on Mondays. Speaking of Medical school; we’ve welcomed Srinakharinwirot U/U of Nottingham, IUMC (Irish Universities Medical Consortium, UC Cork, UC Dublin, U of Galway and TC Dublin), St. George’s University, Imperial College and soon a Thai/UK Medical Conference and a visit from RUMC (Penang, Malaysia (RCSI and UCD). In addition to the broad selection of Medical School opportunities, we’ve welcomed 14 universities to our lovely campus to speak directly to our students and more are being planned as you read this.
For Parents
As our Year12 students' progress through their College and University process, we’re actively encouraging parents to join the journey. A Parent login to UNIFROG (use the code WCIBParent) (active till May) can open many opportunities to learn more, discuss and research with your son/daughter!
Our team (parents/students/Counsellor) meetings will continue throughout the month of February. Please try to find a mutual time with your son/daughter to book an appointment with Bevin Clark (University Guidance Counsellor) with this NEW link!

PAWS Exhibition
During Global Citizenship Day on 17 January, our Early Years students had a wonderful session with the charity PAWS from Hua Hin. The children listened to stories by Eric Carle, and heard about the animals rescued by the charity. Finally they worked on a collaborative piece of art representing several kinds of dogs. What an enjoyable and meaningful project! Take a look at the beautiful exhibition in the Junior School Lobby now!

Chaba The Elephant
As part of our connection with Save Elephant foundation we have sponsored Chaba, a three year old elephant. Through the money we have raised we can care for Chaba for a year and also help with the construction of their new enclosure. We hope some students can visit soon! In the meantime, take a look at Chaba and her friends enjoying their “Wellington cake”. Thank you to everyone for their support of these beautiful creatures!

New Library Books
It’s time to share the latest book recommendations over in Senior School. Thank you to librarian, Ms Joanna Whitehouse for taking the time to select and share. What takes your fancy this weekend? Are you in search of inner calm and peace of mind? Or do you want to lose yourself in a modern classic like Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic, or Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See. Or maybe superheroes, spies and ghosts are more your thing. Whatever your tastes – we’ve got you covered. Drop by the Library soon!

Oppidian Workshop
On Monday 3 February, Year 10 students participated in an Oppidan Skills Workshop tailored to enhance their study skills ahead of their IGCSE exams next year. The workshop featured a series of activities focusing on key areas such as effective revision techniques, time management, and successful study strategies. It also provided practical tips and tools to help students optimise routines, master good organisation and improve their overall exam performance. With expert guidance, students now feel confident and better prepared to tackle their IGCSE preparations as they complete Year 10 and move into Year 11. Thank you to our Head of IGCSEs, Ms Claire Bope for supporting on this.

Tickets
The production takes place over two nights – Weds 12 Feb and Thurs 13 Feb. Both performances will start at 18.00 and include one interval. This time we have introduced a new system of ticketing which has allowed families to choose their seats. It is very important that you check your tickets, make a note of your seat numbers and only sit in your allocated seats.
Our student ushers, managed by staff will have the Ticket Tailor scanning app on their phones and will scan the QR code of ticket holders. This automatically checks them into the event and updates the records live across all ushers. Please be patient as it will take some time to get into the Hall as we scan everyone as they enter.
Once inside, ticket holders go up the steps and into the Theatre where there are signs at the top of the steps indicating seating zones and another set of ushers guiding people to seats in the Theatre.
As both nights are now almost full we want to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to enjoy it! We thank you again for your patience and cooperation. |

Puppy Dash at Bangkok Prep
On Sat 1 February, our Swim Department proudly took a group of talented students from our Extra-Curricular Learn to Swim program to their very first competitive swim meet!
This exciting event was specially designed to introduce new swimmers to the world of competition in a fun and supportive environment. Our young swimmers made a splash, showcasing their incredible progress and determination.
We are beyond proud of each and every one of them! Not only were there plenty of medals to celebrate, but the joy and confidence seen in our students' smiles were the real victories of the day.
At Wellington Bangkok, we believe in nurturing every child's potential. Here’s to many more successes, both in and out of the pool!
