Dear Parents
I'm in Chiang Rai today, supporting some of our Year 12 students who are taking part in the Chiang Rai Fashion to the World event, which is now in its third season. The fashion industry is fascinating: it marries serious business with single-minded creativity. And creativity itself is a combination of deeply-felt individualism and ruthless problem-solving. In that sense, it's how a school should be: authentic and open to every possibility, and - at the same time - uncompromising in its pursuit of success.
And tomorrow we have our Open Morning, postponed from that week earlier in the term when we had the poor air quality. Open Morning is always hard work: hundreds of visitors to talk to, and so little time. But it's also really enjoyable. I'm very proud of our school - the students, the staff, the environment - and I do love to show it off!!
See you on Monday.
With best wishes
Chris

Tomorrow is Open Morning! We thank you all for your support of our very popular annual event. We are very proud of the students acting as Tour Guides, talking to new families and welcoming them. We know they will show everyone how wonderful it is to be a Wellingtonian!
If you have any questions about Open Morning then please get in touch with us in Admissions. We’d love to hear from you!

BOOK WEEK SPECIAL!
WOW!! It has been an amazing week celebrating all things bookish! It has been our delight to see children of all ages really enjoy a week of stories, author visits, games, quizzes – and of course, an opportunity to dress up! See below for a few of our favourite activities. |
|
|
Drop Everything and Read
Throughout the week, a cry would go out to “DROP EVERYTHING AND READ!” and that is precisely what we all did. Classrooms and learning spaces fell silent as children, teachers and staff immersed themselves in a book! We all enjoyed the silence, to lose ourselves in another world – whether it was Narnia, the Moon, or an ordinary street in London. |
|
|
Book Parade and Dress Up
This year everyone really excelled themselves with the creative outfits on display! Our Junior School students enjoyed the annual parade on Thursday with fairies, princesses, dinosaurs, woodland creatures, Harry Potters and many more racing around! Our teachers ramped up their creativity and we particularly loved Ms Hannah Jeffs as Stickman and Ms Tanisha McCraw making a very fetching version of the artist Frida Kahlo! It was the turn of Senior School on Friday and they were not to be outdone! |
|
|
Author Visits
One of the highlights of the week was visits by authors Tad Hills and Martin Chatterton. Both ran a number of workshops and presentations engaging with children of different ages – telling stories, illustrating their work and making reading fun! We very much appreciate them coming to visit us! |
|
|
Shared Reading Experiences
During this week we have been really impressed by the number of extra storytelling sessions in school. We’ve had teachers reading to different classes, the Master entertaining our Early Years with lots of different stories plus a beautiful session with our youngest Reception readers sharing their new skills with Pre-Nursery. They were enthralled and impressed – and in another Book Week not too far away, they will be reading to a new Pre-Nursery class! |
|
|
Send us your Reviews
If you have read anything special this week or have a book that you’d love others to hear about – then why not share it with us. We’ll publish the best reviews! Whether it’s The Gruffalo, Harry Potter or War and Peace – we want to hear what you think! |
|
|
Photographs
Enjoy this little peek at the photographs here. We’ll have more to share but here are some of our favourites. We also have a highlights film coming very soon.

This year our Director of Performing Arts, Ms Sinead Corrigan, has arranged not one but two Piano Recitals giving everyone in the school a chance to enter and showcase their skills.
Check out the poster, talk to your Music teachers and register now! We can't wait to see what our amazing students have in store.

Drama Parent Workshop
Thank you very much to Drama Teachers, Mr Ashley Edwards who gave an excellent presentation to parents on Wednesday this week. He explained more about the joys of Drama and the life skills to be learned. He also explored the curriculum details, activities such as productions and LAMDA training – and the potential pathways and careers if you choose IGCSE and A-Level Drama and Theatre Studies. If you missed it you can find the link to the presentation HERE or talk to Mr Edwards directly.

Basketball – Coach David’s Victory in Singapore
When he is not inspiring hundreds of young Wellington Bangkok sports stars, our Head of Basketball, Coach David is taking on the world! Last weekend in Singapore, the Thailand Women playing for Chuu Basketball Club and coached by David, beat the world's top women's 3x3 team, Canada. Canada were the world champions in 2022 and 2023! For Thailand, it was the first time a Thai basketball or football team beat either an America Cup Champion or a world top ranked team in history. They won 21-16!
We are hoping to have Coach David and the team in to work with our student athletes soon and use this incredible accomplishment to encourage more and more of our own players at Wellington to become involved with 3x3 basketball to develop their talents and growing the next generation of superstars in Thailand

GBAC Under 18
Our Senior School footballers continue apace in the GBAC League. This week both Boys and Girls took on teams from TSIS on our South Field. Coach Yurii praised the strong performance by both teams and their support and encouragement of each other. The Girls showed great energy and very much enjoyed celebrating each goal! A fantastic atmosphere during both exciting sessions! Thank you to our coaches and PE teams for their exceptional hard work as always!

FOBISIA Swimming
Recently our Wellington Bangkok swimmers competed at the Division 1 FOBISIA Swimming Championships - a high-level competition which is also a lot of fun for our swimmers. They competed with the very best of British schools in Asia across.3 days of amazing racing!
Our swimmers won medals, achieved PB times and most of all gained valuable experience which will stand them in great stead in the future. All performed amazingly - but a huge well done to some Individual winners -
Skye - Top 15-year-old Boy
Leila - Top 14-year-old Girl
Klarnissa - Top 13-year-old Girl
Pangrum - Top 12-year-old Girl
Peach - Top 11-year-old Girl
Toddy - 3rd Place of 13-year-old Boys
Wellington won the Top Net points trophy for the second year running which again shows our incredible quality. What a squad we have built over the last few years thanks to Director of Swimming Mr James Goddard and his team.
Huge congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches and thank you to the parents and spectators who attended , supported and boosted the students!
We are already looking forward to next year - can we be even better than this?
