Dear Parents
First, another quick note regarding the Skylight Building car park. We are working on plans to improve access to and from this car park. In the meantime, please ensure that you do not park your car next to red-and-white-kerb lines, or on the pedestrian crossing. As you know, this is dangerous for both pedestrians and other cars.
I really enjoyed the Junior School’s production of ‘Snow White’ this week. What a spectacle! What acting! What an orchestra! As I have told you before, I love the stage; and each year, I am given more reasons to do so. Amazing!
It’s that time of the school year when we start the process of saying farewell to some staff, and introducing a (much larger) number of new ones. For an international school, our staff turnover has always been, and remains, notably low. Each year, there are some who move on (and, as I have said before, the Thai tax system encourages foreigners to leave after two years), but there have never been many.
Today I’ll mention Senior School leavers (next week Junior). In June, we will wave goodbye to Head of Maths Mr Chris Walton, a founding Senior School member of staff, who is retiring after years of dedicated service. Chris joined us six years ago from another school in Thailand, and has always led his department with characteristic determination, wisdom, and wit. Mrs Sally Nunes, Head of Sciences, will return to the UK with her family in the summer, after four years of outstanding Chemistry teaching, House Tutoring, leading the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and caring. Ms Terri-Anne Jones moves to another school in Bangkok after two years at the helm of the English Department, having guided it with enormous success through our first IGCSEs as well as first Y12 A-level courses. Ms Urmilla Nakkeeran also leaves, after two years of incisive, insightful and intelligent Biology teaching, to pursue a new career. Mr Dominic Atherton, OW, Maths teacher extraordinaire, quite impossibly good distance runner, and newlywed, returns to the UK with his wife. Mr Richard Anderson, excellent and hugely committed Physics teacher, has had to return to the UK after two years with us, to recover from ill health. Mr Callum Vickerstaff, who joined us this year to teach Biology, has also suffered from ill health this year, unfortunately, and will return to the UK to complete his own recovery, having given us a great deal in his short time here.
In a couple of weeks, I’ll introduce all the new Senior teachers. I can tell you now: they are very good!
Next week, IGCSE and A-level exams continue;
With best wishes
Chris

Junior School Prodution: A Hint of Snow White
|
|
|
That’s a wrap on two fantastic days of A Hint of Snow White with our Junior School production!
Our Junior School gave a fun twist to the classic tale — no apple, just a mango! With a funny evil queen, a playful Snow White, and plenty of surprises along the way. This feel-good musical brought everyone together, and the pantomime moments had parents, teachers, and students joining in, making it even more memorable.
It was truly one of the highlights of the year for our Junior School and everyone at Wellington College Bangkok.
A well-deserved standing ovation to the cast, and sincere thanks to Ms McCraw and the production team, the parents, and everyone who came to support and cheer. You made it really special!

Senior School GSL Project Spotlight
As part of our Global Social Leaders (GSL) programme, six groups of our Senior School students are working on different projects, each aiming to make a positive impact in the community. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing each group and highlighting the meaningful work they’re doing to create change.
This week, we’re spotlighting ‘Youth For Tomorrow’.
This team is made up of seven enthusiastic Year 9 students — Pao Pao, Emily, Thanwa, Shana, Uni, Thomas, and Keagan. Their mission is to support local Thai schools in urgent need of improvements to their physical learning environments. Through product sales and sponsorships, they’ve raised funds to help provide essential resources and facilities not covered by government support.
The group visited several local schools, where they built meaningful connections with the children through fun and educational activities. They also met with teachers and school leaders to identify specific needs, and reached out to local sponsors and businesses for additional support. Within Wellington College Bangkok, they organised a successful fundraising event that included games and the sale of homemade products.
Thanks to their efforts, the team helped upgrade school facilities—improving both student welfare and the overall quality of the learning experience.

Year 9 Parkour Unit – Summer Term Focus
At Wellington, we are committed to delivering a broad and meaningful PE curriculum that inspires students to explore, develop, and thrive across a wide range of physical activities. Throughout the academic year, our students engage in diverse units designed to promote not only physical competence but also confidence, creativity, and collaboration.
In the Summer Term, our focus turns to Aesthetics—where students examine how the body moves, the shapes it can create, and the vital roles of strength, control, balance, and athleticism. Within this theme, our Year 9 students take on Parkour: an exciting and dynamic unit that builds upon the foundational skills developed in Aesthetic units in Years 7 and 8.
Students are introduced to quadrupedal movements, such as bear crawls, and learn to navigate obstacles using techniques like the 'Step Vault' and 'Belly Roll'. Equipment is purposefully arranged at varying heights and difficulty levels to support differentiation and encourage personal challenge. As their confidence grows, students progress through more complex courses laid out across the Sports Hall.
Peer coaching plays a key role, with students analysing one another’s performances and offering feedback on technique, creativity, and aesthetic quality. This unit exemplifies our 'Head, Heart, Hands' approach: developing understanding and problem-solving (Head), resilience and collaboration (Heart), and the physical execution of movement (Hands). Parkour provides a unique opportunity for students to challenge themselves physically and mentally—embracing movement as both an art form and an athletic pursuit.

U15 Girls at GBAC Volleyball Tournament
Our U15 Girls Volleyball team delivered a truly inspiring performance at the recent GBAC tournament, hosted across both LFIB and SISB. Despite volleyball being a relatively new sport for several members of the team, the girls demonstrated remarkable progress, resilience, and teamwork throughout the event.
Every match was played with heart and determination, showcasing the incredible commitment these athletes have shown during recent training sessions. Their rapid development and growing confidence on the court were evident in every serve, spike, and rally.
The tournament not only highlighted the girls’ competitive spirit but also their strong sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Their journey is just beginning, and with continued practice and dedication, there is no doubt this team will achieve even greater success in the coming year.
We are proud of their efforts and look forward to what the future holds for this talented group. Well done, girls!
