Reception Fairytale Ball 2025

Yesterday, magic filled the halls of Junior School as our Reception children stepped into their very own storybook world. Dressed as princes, princesses, dragons, queens, knights, and more, they paraded through the school in a vibrant Fairytale Parade, spreading joy and colour along the way!

The excitement didn’t end there — at the Fairytale Ball, the children danced the day away, with a surprise visit from characters like Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. It was a day full of wonder, imagination, and unforgettable memories.

Wellington College Bangkok Alumnus Poon Welcomes Royal Guest at Wellington College UK

A fantastic opportunity for former Wellington College Bangkok student, Poon, who was successfully accepted into Wellington College UK this academic year to commence his A Level studies. On 13 May 2025, the College proudly welcomed Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh to officially open Elizabeth House, the College’s 18th boarding house and its first co-educational Sixth Form House. Poon, in his role as Deputy Head of Elizabeth House, provided a guided tour and an insight into daily life.

Elizabeth House is named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, whose enduring relationship with Wellington College is a cherished part of its history. The House name reflects the values of service, duty, and leadership that defined her reign and continue to inspire the College community.

The Duchess was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire, Mr Andrew Try, and introduced to The Master, Mr James Dahl. She met key members of the College leadership team and the Elizabeth House community.

It’s wonderful to see members of our alumni flourishing, especially when still part of our family of Wellington schools.

Mastering Japanese with The Master!

Year 3 had an unforgettable Japanese lesson with our Master, Mr Nicholls, in the Learning Studio! The room was full of energy as students learned how to order food in a restaurant — “Rāmen onegai shimasu” (ラーメンお願いします), and you're all set!

They also picked up everyday classroom phrases and had a blast with interactive games, racing to match pictures with Japanese words. The excitement was contagious, and the learning? Unforgettable. Big smiles, new words, and plenty of fun — thank you, Mr Nicholls!

A World of Music: Solo Music Festival 2025

We’re so proud of all the performers who took part in Saturday’s World of Music Solo Festival. From Nursery to Year 10, more than 170 students gave heartfelt and inspiring performances across six venues in the Senior School. It was such a joy to see their confidence, creativity, and love for music shine through. A big thank you to everyone who performed, supported, or came along to enjoy the day — and a special thank you to the Wellington Music Team for organising such a memorable event.

We’re grateful for such a wonderful day of music and look forward to the next one. Here are some highlights from the day!

Turn Your Old WCIB Uniform into Something Meaningful

Have an old WCIB polo shirt your child no longer wears? Drop it off at the Copenhagen Café in the Junior School and give it a second life!

During the school break, we’ll send all donated shirts to Second Chance Bangkok, a non-profit that creates jobs for women in the Klong Toei slum community. There, the shirts will be lovingly transformed into handmade Wellyphant dolls — each one unique and full of heart.

It’s a simple way to recycle, support others, and be part of something truly special.

The donation box is open now until the end of term.

Classroom Turned Butterfly Garden in Nursery

On Wednesday, our Nursery students were enchanted by a visit from Little Big Wings, who brought the wonders of the butterfly life cycle right into the classroom. From curious caterpillars to shimmering butterflies, they were captivated by every stage of transformation.

It was a hands-on experience filled with awe, joy, and discovery. A big thank you to Little Big Wings for bringing nature’s magic to life in our Nursery!

Senior School GSL Project Spotlight: Thrive Together

As part of our Global Social Leaders (GSL) programme, six groups of Senior School students are developing projects designed to make a meaningful difference in the community. Each week, we’ll be shining a spotlight on one of these inspiring teams and the positive impact they’re creating.

This week, we introduce Thrive Together, the youngest GSL team, made up of three compassionate Year 7 students: Avi, Torfah, and Alice.

Their journey began with a simple but powerful moment. One evening, while buying snacks at 7-Eleven, they noticed homeless individuals asking for food. Moved by what they saw, the students offered what they could — and from that small act of kindness, a bigger mission began to take shape: How could they help tackle hunger in their community?

They soon partnered with BKK Food Bank, a local organisation that collects surplus food from restaurants and shops to support those in need. The team volunteered with the charity, helping to serve meals to around 100 people. In addition, they raised over 17,000 THB. and collected surplus food to support BKK Food Bank’s ongoing work.

Through their compassion, commitment, and teamwork, these Year 7 students have provided real, meaningful support to vulnerable communities — and reminded us all that no one is too young to make a difference.

Special shoutouts to Keeree, Custom, and Khun for earning the True Grit Award for their determination, and to Lucky, Carter, and Putter for receiving the Spirit of the Games Award for their positive attitude.

It was a fantastic day full of energy and teamwork — a great experience for everyone involved!
