Dear Parents
At the time we opened the school, Wellington College had a slogan – ‘We are Wellington’. It isn’t used any more, really, but I do like it. And I think it should go further. When you conjugate the verb, you see ‘I am Wellington; you are Wellington; he/she/it is Wellington; we are Wellington; they are Wellington’. This is, I think, what we must mean by ‘belonging’.
Belonging means not just wearing a uniform, or sitting in the classrooms, or paying the fees(!). ‘I am Wellington’ means that my identity (who I am) and Wellington’s identity (what Wellington is) overlap in some way. And we both benefit from that overlap.
But belonging is not just about
me. ‘You are Wellington’ is, in many ways, more important. Every member of the school is equally a member. It doesn’t matter whether they look like me, or talk like me, or have the same interests or background or IQ as me. No-one is less (or more).
I am Wellington; you are Wellington.
Have a great weekend!
With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents
We have thoroughly enjoyed our Year 1 to 6 Parent-Teacher Conferences this week - it’s been a pleasure speaking with so many of you, continuing to build such strong relationships across our school community whilst also deepening our knowledge of your children.
Student leadership has been a real topic of the past few weeks, and it was a joy to hear from our Green Team during assembly today. The children’s passion and commitment to sustainability really is truly inspiring, with the team focused on recycling this term. Please do ask your child about Trash Lucky - a fantastic eco-initiative that all families can get involved in within our community!
Following on from the incredibly high standard of Year 6 student speeches last week, I am now absolutely delighted to announce our new House Captains for the 2025–2026 academic year. Please join me in congratulating:
Benson: Rollo and Sand
Apsley: Usama and Noey
Wellesley: Cherda and Phukhao
Stanley: Bonny and Freya
We are confident that these students will lead with integrity, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of teamwork. They will play a key role in supporting House events, encouraging participation, and helping to build a positive and inclusive school spirit.
A heartfelt thank you to all the students who put themselves forward - you should be incredibly proud of your courage and leadership.
Wishing you all a super weekend ahead everyone.
Kindest regards.
Hannah

Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well as we wrap up another exciting week in the Senior School.
Yesterday, our Year 10 students departed for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) practice expedition in the beautiful surroundings of Khao Yai National Park. The expedition is more than just a hike through nature - it’s a chance for students to challenge themselves, work collaboratively, and build resilience. Over the next few days, they will navigate trails, cook their own meals, and camp under the stars, all while demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a globally recognised programme that empowers young people to explore their potential and develop essential life skills. Through its three levels - Bronze, Silver, and Gold - students engage in four key areas:
- Volunteering: Giving back to the community and learning the value of service.
- Physical: Improving fitness and well-being through regular activity.
- Skills: Developing talents and interests that foster creativity and confidence.
- Expedition: Planning and completing adventurous journeys in unfamiliar environments.
Participation in the DofE scheme helps students grow in independence, resilience, and leadership. It also enhances university applications and future career prospects by demonstrating initiative, commitment, and a well-rounded character. A huge thank you to the staff supporting the expedition and ensuring the safety and success of our students.
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
Best Wishes,
Jane Sharp |
