10 OCTOBER 2025
FROM THE MASTER

Dear Parents

The half-term holiday gives students and teachers an opportunity to stop, take a breath, and think for a moment or two about what we’ve already achieved this year.  And it’s a lot.  Every child in the school (almost 1100 of them) now knows more, understands more, and is more skilled than they were in August when we started the term.  By quite a large amount!

Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.

See you on Monday 20 October!

With best wishes

Chris

HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

This week has been filled with excitement, exploration, and unforgettable memories as our Year 4 to 6 students embarked on their residentials. I’ve heard from all staff involved just how wonderfully the children embraced every moment and challenge with enthusiasm and resilience - making the most of these incredible opportunities to learn and grow beyond the classroom. I personally also thoroughly enjoyed my experience of being with Year 4 on their adventure – seeing all the children so motivated to take part with determination and courage. What true Wellingtonians they are, and what a great opportunity to get to know them even better!

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff who made these trips possible, ensuring our students were supported and inspired every step of the way. We are also incredibly grateful to our partner, Insight Adventures, for their professionalism and care throughout each trip.

I hope you all enjoy a brilliant half-term break next week – so very well-deserved after such a busy start to the academic year.

When we return, we’ll be diving into some more exciting events including Sports Days, Loy Krathong celebrations, and the build-up to Christmas - there’s so much to look forward to!

Wishing you a restful and joyful holiday.

Kindest regards,

Hannah

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe how quickly this first half term has flown by! Our Year 7 students no longer feel like “new Senior School students”, and it has been a pleasure to watch them grow in independence and begin to form strong connections with their peers and teachers. Year 10 and Year 12 have both impressed us with their focused and determined approach to the start of their IGCSE courses and A Levels, respectively. Their engagement in lessons and commitment to their studies have laid a strong foundation for the months ahead. Meanwhile, Year 11 and Year 13 have approached the second year of their courses with real purpose and maturity. It is clear that they are striving for the best possible outcomes, and their attitude towards their studies has been very impressive indeed.

This week continues to showcase the wonderful breadth of opportunity available to our students. We have seen:

  • The House Chess Competition, with impressive strategic thinking and sportsmanship on display.
  • The Year 11 Drama Exam, where students demonstrated creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
  • The UKMT Maths Challenge, engaging our keenest mathematicians in problem-solving at a national level.
  • Continued production rehearsals, with students working tirelessly behind the scenes and on stage.
  • Multiple sporting fixtures - including Netball, Basketball and Football - where teamwork, resilience, and school spirit were evident across every match.

As we head into the half term break, I would like to thank you for your continued support and partnership. I wish all our families a restful and enjoyable holiday, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for another action-packed half term.

Best wishes,

Jane
