24 OCTOBER 2025
FROM THE MASTER

Dear Parents,

Today we had our annual Welly Walk.  It began at 6am, as the sun rose serenely over a peaceful campus.  Plenty of students, parents and staff came out to enjoy the experience, have a stroll, or (in some cases) test their personal bests – and, of course, to raise money for the four charities the Houses decided on.  The whole day was both very positive and – fortunately – smiled on by the weather.

You might be interested to know that our school hosts the annual Thailand Festival of Education on Saturday 8 November.  It’s an event for education professionals around the region, and becoming very popular.  Keynote speaker this year is Wellington parent Cindy Sirinya Bishop – we are very much looking forward to hearing her inspiring words!

I hope you have a restful weekend

With best wishes

Chris

HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back after our half term break. They returned full of energy, quickly settling into routines and clearly delighted to be reunited with their friends and teachers.

The highlight of our week was undoubtedly today’s Welly Walk! In assembly, the children explored what it meant to be a global citizen, learning how we can take action to do good for others. It was wonderful to hear our service team share their ideas about the importance of doing this with such passion and determination.

Inspired by this message, all of our Junior School then set off with enthusiasm and energy, completing lap after lap of the Welly Walk throughout the day. Their efforts have helped raise funds for three incredible charities: Save Elephant Foundation, Second Chance Bangkok, and Chaiyapruk Foundation. What a fantastic achievement - a huge thank you to Ms McCraw for her brilliant organisation of this very special event.

Adding to our global learning, we were also treated to a performance from a sitar player in assembly. The children were captivated by the beautiful sounds of this traditional instrument, learning about its cultural significance as well as some of the key concepts of Diwali. It was a lovely way to celebrate and further deepen our understanding of the world around us at this special time of year.

Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited for Halloween. Children are welcome to come dressed in a not-scary costume on Friday if they wish to join in the fun.

Wishing you all a super weekend!

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

This week, I had the pleasure of watching five outstanding Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) presentations from our Year 13 students. The topics were as diverse as they were intellectually stimulating - ranging from explorations of Buddhism to the complexities of the Theory of Everything. Each student demonstrated not only deep research and critical thinking but also a genuine passion for their chosen subject.

What made the experience even more special was the thoughtful advice these students shared with our Year 12 cohort, who are just beginning their EPQ journey. Their reflections on time management, refining research questions, and staying motivated were invaluable, and it was heartening to see such peer-to-peer support in action.

The EPQ continues to be a powerful opportunity for students to develop independent learning skills, and universities increasingly value it for just that reason. It showcases a student’s ability to conduct sustained research, think critically, and communicate effectively; skills that are essential for success in higher education. Many universities even offer reduced offers to students who achieve well in their EPQ, recognising the rigour and commitment it demands.

Looking ahead, we are all eagerly anticipating Adventure Week next week! With five residential trips heading out, including the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, and a vibrant Bangkok programme packed with activities, it promises to be a fulfilling and enjoyable experience for all our students. Whether hiking, kayaking, or engaging in workshops or trips, I know the students will be challenged, grow in confidence and skills, and have a lot of fun.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

With best wishes,

Jane
