Dear Parents
I have to thank the whole Wellington community for your respectful and thoughtful response to last week’s very sad news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. Wellington College mourns with the nation and everyone’s good grace is very much appreciated.
In its most recent message, the Office of Private Education Commission (OPEC) has told us the following.
-
Curricular activities, extracurricular activities that contribute to child development, and activities related to the traditions and cultures of any nationality or religion are to proceed as normal. Schools are to use appropriate discretion.
-
Private school administrators, teachers, and personnel are requested to observe mourning, using appropriate discretion.
In light of this, and with all due and appropriate respect, we proceed with calendared school activities as planned. If you are unsure about anything, please do not hesitate to ask us.
With best wishes for a peaceful weekend
Chris
