Dear Parents
This week we had Wai Kru events to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day. As I have said before, this is quite a strange concept for British teachers. So it’s very useful to spend some time understanding a different way of thinking, and experience a different type of interaction. The Thai department did an excellent job preparing special assemblies, and our students showed once again what excellent young people they really are!
Others cannot see into our hearts, so sometimes it is good to say how we feel: I am hugely grateful for, and in awe of, our education staff and their skills, abilities and dedication. They do a difficult job (we do not make it easy!) with honesty, grace and great fortitude. I say a most sincere thank you to every one!
As expected, we’ve had a few hours this week when the air quality has been quite poor. Our procedures are solid, our air filtration works, and we are constantly monitoring and reviewing to see whether there is more we can do (though sadly I have no Dumbledore magic to remove the problem completely). If you have worries, please don’t hesitate to send your child in with a face mask. (Some PM2.5 masks have exhale valves, which can make them a little more comfortable to wear than the Covid/flu type.)
I hope you are able to have a breathe-easy weekend.
With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents
This week, Year 3 have enjoyed an extraordinary series of experiences! They began with an Ancient Egyptian Dress-Up Day, sparking curiosity and setting the scene for their upcoming Theme learning journey by bringing some key elements of this historical period to life. Their excitement then continued with the highly anticipated residential trip to Chonburi, where they explored a mangrove forest, identifying weird and wonderful creatures in their natural habitat, as well as visiting an underwater world, discovering the wonders of marine life up close. Perhaps their greatest milestone was spending a whole night away from home - an experience that truly strengthened their independence and confidence. What an incredible opportunity for both personal growth and discovery.
This week also marked the launch of our Lent Term Enrichment Programme for Years 1 to 6. Once again, our children had the chance to select from a huge variety of learning experiences all aimed to inspire new passions or enhance skills. From sports to the arts, mathematics to mindfulness, it is always a joy to see the excitement and engagement these unique sessions bring.
In Early Years, our teachers have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet with all their class parents and share the amazing progress each child is making. These conversations are always so valuable in strengthening the partnership between home and school, celebrating the achievements of our youngest learners.
Wai Kru has been another highlight - a wonderful opportunity to express our appreciation for the incredible commitment our teachers show to our children every single day. On Friday, we enjoyed a special assembly prepared by our Thai team and students - thank you for making this such a meaningful and memorable occasion.
Next week, we look forward to more exciting learning experiences, including Year 5’s assembly - the first of our year group assemblies this term. It promises to be a wonderful opportunity for the children to showcase their learning and creativity. I can’t wait!
Wishing you all a super weekend ahead everyone.
Kind regards.
Hannah

Dear Parents,
It has been a wonderfully busy and productive week in the Senior School, and our Parent–Teacher Conferences continue to play a vital role in supporting each student’s learning journey. Being able to host these in the new Elizabeth Hall has made the experience even more effective; having all teachers together in one space creates a cohesive, efficient environment for families, and helps provide a clear, holistic view of student progress. It is fantastic to see how well this shared format is working for parents, students, and staff alike.
This week we were especially pleased to welcome so many of you to the Year 9 PTC. These conversations are an important part of helping students think carefully about their IGCSE option choices. It was clear how valuable families found the opportunity to speak in depth with subject teachers, and we truly appreciate your thoughtful engagement at this key point in the Year 9 journey.
As Mr Nicholls has mentioned, this week also included our beautiful Wai Kru ceremony, a highlight of the school calendar and a cherished moment of respect and gratitude within Thai culture. It was fantastic to see our students honour their teachers with such sincerity. As ever, I felt incredibly privileged to lead the Senior School alongside such a professional, dedicated, and caring team. Their commitment to our students shines through in moments like these.
With best wishes,
Jane |
