Dear Parents
I have some interesting news about the Junior School for next year. Mrs Jeffs’ role will be changing: she has decided that, from being Wellington’s best-ever Head of Junior School, she will return to being a classroom teacher. She is not leaving us – which is excellent news – but (very understandably) wishes to spend a little more time with her family.
That means you will be meeting a new Head of Junior School in August. Mrs Fiona Read will join us from Bedales in the UK, where she is currently Head of Pre-Prep and Deputy Head of Prep. Fiona was previously Head of Primary School at the British School in Tokyo and, before that, Vice Principal of the Junior School at UWC in Singapore. Hugely experienced in leadership of some of the world’s best schools, Fiona visited Wellington recently and impressed me and our board very much indeed. She will be an outstanding addition to our team, and the school will benefit greatly from the clean continuity of still having Hannah here to support her.
I’m very much looking forward to introducing Fiona; you and your children will, I believe, like her a lot. Don’t forget that the Lent Half Term holiday begins after school on Friday 13 February (that’s next Friday). We open again on Monday 23 February.
If you have not registered for our upgraded Line account, please do so. It’s a necessary channel for questions-and-answers and – especially – for us to send out key information.
Enjoy the first weekend of February
With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents
On Friday last week, our Reception children went on a very impressive protest – telling everyone in our school how important it was that we look after our oceans. With posters of sea life images, words and songs to further strengthen their important message, it was a truly impressive showcase of very passionate young children who certainly made a difference in making others stop and think.
Music and drama have continued to be wonderful highlights of the week in other year groups, with our creative Year 4 assembly based on
The Twelve Labours of Hercules. The children sang and acted out these classic stories with great enthusiasm, demonstrating how powerful performance can be as part of their wider English learning. It was a joy to watch and a real celebration of their creativity and teamwork.
Then of course, the final showcase of the week was when we were treated to another fantastic performance involving our Year 2 students – who presented their production of
‘The Dragons Gift’ on Thursday. I am always so impressed by the power of the arts to bring children together in such a collaborative and exciting way, and it was truly incredible to see children aged just six and seven performing with such confidence, expression, and enjoyment. Absolutely fantastic! A huge thank you to all the staff involved in making this cross-curricular project such a success.
Looking ahead, next week we will be celebrating Chinese New Year. On Friday 13 February, students are invited to dress up in either traditional Chinese clothing or wear red to mark this special occasion. We look forward to sharing this vibrant and meaningful celebration together.
Wishing you all a super weekend ahead.
Kind regards.
Hannah

Dear Parents,
Please note that reports for Years 7–9 and Year 12 have been issued this week. We encourage you to take some time to review them with your child and discuss the progress they are making across their subjects.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from Chulalongkorn University to our campus this week. They were hugely impressed by the maturity, curiosity, and confidence of our students - particularly by the thoughtful questions.
Next week is our final week of lessons before half term. A reminder that the first week back is Mock Examination Week for Years 11 and 13. Mock exams are vital preparation, helping students practise exam conditions, identify areas for improvement, refine revision strategies, and act on meaningful feedback. We encourage students to prepare well over the break and make the most of the insights they gain afterwards.
Finally, we are very much looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year together next Friday to finish off this half term. It is always a joyful highlight of the school calendar, and we know our students and staff are preparing a wonderful range of activities to mark the occasion.
Wishing you and your family an enjoyable weekend ahead.
