Dear Parents
With all the worries and uncertainties of today’s world, it is good sometimes to go back to basics. What children need in order to be ready to flourish:
- Nutrition (they need adult help on this!)
- Sleep – enough of it, on a regular schedule
- Stable, supportive relationships, both at home and at school
- Predictability.
The need for predictability can be a surprise for us: isn’t it better to change, and provide new experience always? Doesn’t ‘same’ = boring? No.
When big things change, a child needs to wonder ‘what’s happening now?’, ‘am I safe?’, ‘what are the rules here?’ – and learning slows, because the brain is busy with those questions. Instability leads to lack of security, and to anxiety and avoidance.
Once food, sleep patterns, stability and predictability are in place: that’s when the good stuff can really take root: play, cognitive stimulation, physical movement, emotional development, autonomy, developing peer relationships, appropriate challenge, values and ‘meaning’.
I hope you have a good weekend. I’m going to spend Saturday and Sunday working on my nutrition and sleep!
With best wishes
Chris

Dear Parents,
To start, some celebrations from sports last weekend. Our U11 boys' footballers came an amazing 2nd place in the Harrow International 7s, remaining a favourite throughout the competition but just missing out on the win by losing in penalties in the finals. An incredible achievement for the boys, beating schools from across Asia. Well done to everyone involved!
Our Nursery children were brimming with excitement following their visits to Grandpa Urban Farm this week - a particular highlight being holding chickens larger than them! Reception children also had a brilliant time on their trip to Wow Park, where fun and learning went hand in hand. What truly special days for all involved.
Mathematics has been a focus this week. We had a large number of children taking part in this year’s Kangaroo Maths Competition, approaching this challenge with focus and determination. Alongside this, today we celebrated our wonderfully energetic Times Table Rockstar Day - who could imagine a better combination than Maths and Music? Thank you so much to all of our Junior School bands who performed with such energy in assembly – what a treat for us all – and a big thank you to Mr Kertesz and Mr Findlay for arranging this opportunity.
Our musical celebrations further continue over the weekend, as we launch our World Piano Day involving over 150 performances! And as we look further ahead, next week marks the final week of Lent Term - I can hardly believe how quickly it has come around! On Friday, we will be dressing up in Songkran colours in preparation for this year’s much-anticipated water fights. Please also remember that it will be a half day that day.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead.
Kindest regards,
Hannah |

Dear Parents,
As we look towards the Summer Term, we are pleased to share details of our Senior School Enrichment Programme, which plays a key role in preparing students for life beyond Wellington. Through a carefully designed range of opportunities across academic, personal and co‑curricular areas, the programme supports students in developing the skills, confidence and independence they will need for future study and adult life.
A particular focus this term is on supporting older students as they begin to think more seriously about university pathways. We have expanded our academic enrichment provision to include targeted preparation for IELTS and SAT examinations, Medical Society sessions focused on UCAT preparation, and a Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) session to develop the high‑level reasoning skills required for competitive university courses. These opportunities are designed to provide appropriate stretch and challenge, while helping students develop the academic habits and resilience that universities and employers value.
Alongside our focus on future pathways, the enrichment programme offers a wide range of opportunities for younger students to explore interests, build confidence and develop key life skills. Activities span creative and performing arts, STEM, sport, wellbeing, leadership and communication, encouraging students to try new experiences, work collaboratively and develop independence. Year 7 and 8 students are supported in discovering new passions and building curiosity, while Year 9 begin structured preparation for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, developing skills such as teamwork, navigation and resilience. Year 10 use this time to consolidate and reflect on their Duke of Edinburgh work, ensuring successful completion and progression.
We are confident that our Enrichment programme offers meaningful preparation for the next stage of our students’ journeys and look forward to seeing them engage fully with the opportunities available. Further details and sign‑up information will be shared directly with students.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend ahead of the last week of term.
Jane
