Dear Parents

And suddenly it’s Songkran Holiday again!

Spare a thought for our Y11s, Y12s, and Y13s, who will spend the next two weeks preparing for their IGCSE, AS and A-level exams, which take place throughout May and June.

The results of those studies eventually come, in the shape of their university offers.  Our first Y13s are now holding offers from: Stanford, Yale, Columbia, Purdue, Imperial, UCL, Durham, Edinburgh, HKU, Chulalongkorn, Warwick, Melbourne, Sydney, Exeter, King’s College London, Manchester, Goldsmith’s (UOL), and more.  They will be studying medicine, law, engineering, economics, chemical engineering, music, sports management, computer science, fashion design, and so on.

I am delighted to be able to say that those students have found exactly the courses, and the destinations, that fit them best.  It’s hard, focused work that has got them there – nothing comes automatically.  Well done to every member of Y13.  They are excellent! Now comes the hardest work of all: their actual A-level exams!

I hope you have a wet and wonderful Songkran holiday.  I shall be in Shanghai, working with Wellington College and Hiba schools over there, and enjoying spring!

With best wishes,

Chris

HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

 Dear Parents

Reception have been getting creative this week, designing and making their own parachutes for the ever‑popular egg‑drop challenge - what a fantastic way to celebrate the Easter season! The children spent time carefully thinking about which designs would best protect their egg from breaking, and there was great excitement in the sports hall as they put their ideas to the test and saw the results of all their hard work. Thank you to the many parents who joined us during the making process - we really appreciate your participation and support.

Another important part of our week was our Year 1 to 6 Lent Term Parent Teacher Conferences. As always, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting with families, celebrating your children’s progress and achievements together. Specialist language PTCs will follow shortly after Songkran in the first week back after the holidays – please do book your slot via inWellington.

And of course, the highlight of this week has been Songkran. In Thai lessons, children created beautiful decorations and learned more about the cultural significance of this important festival. Today’s Songkran celebrations were also great fun, beginning with a wonderful assembly featuring band performances, dances, and engaging MCs. The celebrations continued throughout the morning with traditional activities such as water pouring and further music performances. Then, of course, the sheer joy of what may have been our biggest water play session ever! What a joyful and fitting end to another busy term.

We wish you all a wonderful Songkran break and look forward to welcoming you back for a fun‑packed Summer Term ahead.

Kindest regards.

Hannah

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

Happy end of Lent Term, and Happy Songkran!

So much has happened this term - certainly far too much to list here. However, I can say how incredibly proud I am of our students and all that they have achieved. For now, I simply wish you all a happy Songkran and an enjoyable, well‑earned break.

Good luck to our students in Years 11, 12, and 13 as they use the holiday to prepare for forthcoming examinations. We wish them all the very best with their revision and, no doubt, success in the weeks ahead.

Thank you, as ever, for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday 21 April.

With best wishes,

Jane
