24 APRIL 2026

Dear Parents

I spent last week in conferences and events at Wellington College Shanghai, working with my colleagues from China, the UK, India, and Jakarta.  Many of you know Iain Henderson, Sir Anthony Seldon and James Dahl, but many other fascinating and very capable people were there too.  And, for Bangkok old-timers: I had a great chat with Miss Lucy Trotter, an excellent Nursery teacher who worked with us from 2018, and is now Head of Early Years at Wellington Shanghai.

All the British-heritage international schools have some sort of connection with their founding school – but Wellington’s is the strongest of any: we get outstanding real support, in many different areas.  We have student exchanges, summer schools, joint staff training, shared university counselling capabilities, regular visits from UK staff.  And we are also at the heart of some very important work being done by Wellington College Education on both AI and the future of Human Flourishing.

I joined Wellington in 2017 because it is the highest-quality, most honest and truly education-minded brand in the world – and I have to say I am even more proud today of what we are achieving than I was then.

We are still experiencing quite warm weather – I hope you manage to stay cool this weekend.

With best wishes

Chris

HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents

A very warm welcome back to all our children and families for the Summer Term. What a fantastic first week it has been.

On Wednesday, it was wonderful to see so many of our Year 5 and 6 students proudly representing the school at an athletics meet at Brighton, as part of their final preparations for the FOBISIA Primary Games next week. We were incredibly proud of the brilliant performances shown by all those participating and of the ever‑developing sporting skills on display. We now very much look forward to seeing how they perform at the Games themselves.

This week also provided valuable opportunities for some of our specialist teachers to meet with parents to discuss progress in children’s language and Science learning. These conversations were both meaningful and productive, further strengthening our important home–school partnerships.

Following my email earlier this week regarding the heat, a reminder that children may continue to wear their PE kits instead of full school uniform while we remain in this particularly hot period. Please also remember that children should bring a sun‑safe hat and a water bottle to school every day to ensure they stay hydrated and protected when outdoors.

Looking ahead, next week marks the start of our Summer Term parent workshop programme. We warmly encourage you to attend whenever possible; full details can be found in your Year Group weekly newsletters. It is also the beginning of our WEx programme, which we are very much looking forward to.

Until then, I wish everyone a wonderful weekend ahead.

Kindest regards.

Hannah

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the Summer Term. I hope you all enjoyed a restful and refreshing Songkran break.

In assembly this week, I spoke to students about the importance of the Summer Term and the progress that can be made during this period. While it is sometimes underestimated, it is often a quietly powerful term - one in which confidence is built, habits are strengthened, and consistency begins to show real impact. It can be a turning point for many young people. We focused on the idea that not all progress is immediately visible. Growth often happens gradually and privately, through sustained effort, resilience, and good habits. Whether in learning, organisation, or confidence, the work students commit to now helps shape who they are becoming.

In the coming weeks, I will be sharing news of the new staff joining us in August. I am delighted to confirm, however, that we have several highly experienced and well‑qualified teachers joining the Senior School as we continue to expand our student numbers. I very much look forward to introducing them and to welcoming them to the school in the coming months.

I look forward to an ambitious, focused, and positive Summer Term ahead.

With best wishes,

Jane
