Dear Parents

We held a coffee morning with new parents earlier this week.  I spent some time talking to them about what it means for Wellington College to be ‘ambitious’.

We are ambitious not for ourselves but for your child.  Ambitious not for empty status but for genuine achievement.  Ambitious for your child to flourish, even in an uncertain future we don’t yet understand.  When we say we want our students to be ‘ambitious’, we are talking about them having the vision, resilience, ability, determination and support to achieve something truly extraordinary.  In this, as in many other things, we are in partnership with you.

This weekend, I’ll be in London for the COBIS annual conference.  I hope to find time to pop over to Wellington to see members of our Senior School, who will be there on a two-week student exchange with the mother school.  They’ll be boarding, which will be a new experience.  I am sure they will have an excellent time!

With best wishes

Chris

HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents

What an exciting few days it has been as we celebrated Wellington’s very first participation in the Primary FOBISIA Games this week. The competition was a genuinely international experience, with our students competing against schools from across Asia during an action-packed three days. Sports included athletics, swimming, T‑Ball and football, and our children rose to every challenge with determination and pride.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part. Their commitment, teamwork and positive attitudes shone throughout the event - and the results speak for themselves:

  • Athletics – Overall 3rd Place
  • Swimming – Overall 3rd Place
  • Boys’ Football – 1st Place
  • A Team T‑Ball – 4th Place

In addition, we are delighted to share that every child medalled in at least one event, and we even celebrated two new Primary FOBISIA Games records in swimming - an outstanding achievement.

A huge thank you must go to our accompanying staff - Mr Pidgeon, Mr De Prisco, Mr Watson and Ms Elrick - for their commitment, encouragement and care throughout the competition. We are also extremely grateful to our parent community for the incredible support given before, during and after the event.

This was a truly exciting milestone for our school and a wonderful showcase of the growing talent, resilience and confidence of our young people. We could not be prouder. Well done to everyone involved!

Next week anticipation builds towards this year’s production of ‘Aladdin Trouble’ – please do come and support the children if you are able. It will be a show to remember!

Wishing everyone a super weekend.

Hannah

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

As we look ahead to the next academic year, I am delighted to introduce a number of new colleagues who will be joining our community.

With student numbers increasing by around 20% in the Senior School next academic year, many of our new teaching appointments are additional roles, created to expand departments and strengthen leadership capacity. In addition, with a growing waiting list, we are delighted to be able to open an additional Year 9 class next academic year.

As is always the case at this time of year, some colleagues will be moving on at the end of this academic year. We thank them sincerely for the contribution they have made to the life of the school and wish them every happiness and success in their next chapter.

Alongside the new appointments, some existing roles have evolved or been restructured, ensuring that our leadership and teaching teams are well-positioned for the next stage of development. We are particularly pleased to be strengthening areas such as Humanities, English, Science, the Arts, and Technology, as well as welcoming new colleagues into pastoral, university guidance, language, and sports provision.

We are pleased to share that Helen Mathews will be remaining at the school, taking on the role of Head of Senior School PE, enabling her to focus on further strengthening provision, participation, and performance across the Senior School. This reflects our continued investment in PE and sport as a central part of school life.

We look forward to welcoming our new staff members and are confident that their experience and expertise will make a significant and positive impact on both our students and the wider school community.

With best wishes,

Jane
