Dear Parents

Yesterday, I watched the Year 5/6 production of ‘Aladdin’.  Standing on the stage at the end, what struck me super-clearly was how happy and excited the performers were.  You can’t guarantee that when you put on a show like this: every student is involved, whether they are ‘natural’ performers or not, and that can be tough.  Yet here, all I saw in every face was genuine delight.  That’s a really special thing, and it stemmed, I am sure, from the excellent character of the students themselves (thanks to their parents!)  but also from the commitment and wonderful support of the staff, who did a brilliant job.

We talk a lot about ‘love of learning’.  I think this show presented us with an excellent example of exactly that.  Fantastic!

Earlier this week, I popped down to the Tennis courts to see a couple of our future Wimbledon champions, Emily and Punn, training hard.  It’s quite humbling to walk round Wellington and see so many of our students who have such genuine talent and commitment, in so many different areas.

With best wishes

HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

The highlight of this week has, without doubt, been the Year 6 production of Aladdin Trouble – and what a spectacular show it was. We were transported into the world of theatre through the children’s acting, music and dance. It was an exceptional achievement for the year group, following so much hard work, and we are incredibly proud of all those involved.

It must be noted that Year 5 also held a very important part of the show – supporting Year 6 with such talented singing and instrumental performances. Thank you to you all. Also, to our parents for your support throughout the process - from sourcing costumes to the time and care taken with hair and make-up, as well as being such wonderful audiences on the day.

And finally, a heartfelt thanks to all of our staff, whose dedication, creativity and care have inspired and supported the children from auditions through to the final performances. We are incredibly grateful to you all. These productions are such a special part of Junior School life, creating long-lasting memories - what a wonderful way for our Year 6 children to be celebrated as they prepare to move on to the next stage of their educational journey.

Looking ahead, we have more exciting moments that we are very much looking forward to – including our Year 2 sleepover next week, alongside Early Years Sports Days! We can’t wait!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead.

Kind regards.

HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Parents,

This morning, I had the real privilege and joy of watching the Year 6 production. It was a delight to see such confidence, talent and enthusiasm on display, and a wonderful reminder of the energy and character that will be joining the Senior School later this year.

While Junior School students will formally join us in August, preparation for this transition begins much earlier in the year. From the outset, we take a carefully planned and gradual approach, ensuring that students feel confident, prepared and excited about the move to Senior School.

Throughout the transition programme, students are introduced to a range of Senior School subjects and teaching styles, helping to build familiarity with new classrooms, teachers and ways of learning. These experiences are designed not only to support academic readiness, but also to foster independence and curiosity.

Alongside this, there is a strong focus on pastoral care and belonging. Students are welcomed into the Senior School house system and begin to build relationships with older students, including our House Captains, who play an important role in helping them feel part of the wider Senior School community. Taking part in house activities further strengthens these connections and allows students to experience the spirit of the Senior School before they officially join.

We also recognise how important this transition is for parents, and the meetings already held have proved incredibly valuable. We look forward to continuing these opportunities throughout the term, ensuring parents can engage with staff, ask questions and feel fully informed about the next stage of their child’s journey.

Our aim is simple: that every student moves into Year 7 feeling confident, supported and ready to thrive. Based on what I saw this morning, I have no doubt that this year’s cohort will do exactly that.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Jane
